About Alvaro Arbeloa


Alvaro Arbeloa, a Spanish football player, was born on January 17, 1983 at Salamanca. Fondly called “Arb”, he made his international debut for the Spanish national football team in March 2008 against Italy. A member in the Spanish squad of Euro 2008, his first match of the starting round was against Greece and his team won the 2008 UEFA European Championship.


As a teenager, Alvaro Arbeloa was signed on by Real Madrid C.F., from where he moved on to the youth team and then to the reserve squad. During 2002-03 season, he played for Real Madrid C, a Spanish football team that plays in the Tercera División. Alvaro Arbeloa represented Real Madrid Castilla, a Spanish football team that plays in the Segunda División B from 2003 to 2006 and made 50 appearances for the club.


On July 24, 2006, Alvaro Arbeloa was signed by Deportivo de La Coruña, a Spanish football club and played 20 games for it. He signed Liverpool F.C., an English Premier League club, in January 2007 for a whopping £2.5million. Alvaro Arbeloa made his Premiership debut in February against Newcastle United as a substitute. He played in left back position for most of his early games during 2007-08.


Alvaro Arbeloa played his first game of the 2007 UEFA Champions League at Nou Camp in a 2-1 win over Barcelona. His first goal for Liverpool came in April 7, 2007 against Reading F.C. He was part of the runners-up team at the 2007 UEFA Champions League.


A regular on Playstation 3, Alvaro Arbeloa enjoys playing Paddle - a game which is a mixture of tennis, squash and racquet-ball. He likes listening to Shakira and has become a fan of the Beatles, ever since he joined Liverpool.
